The inspiration behind this video:
The X-Men animated series is a seminal piece of filmmaking within the history of Marvel. It introduced a whole generation to mutants on screen and has continued to influence those who have gone on to work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Disney+ Day announcement that it's set to make its return is a huge deal for comic fans and audiences alike. X-Men: The Animated Series featured some of the most famous characters from Marvel Comics including Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Professor Xavier, Storm, and Beast in leading roles. It also showcased lesser-known heroes that have become fan favorites such as Jubilee, Gambit, and Rogue, who were only just introduced in the comics.
The charm of the show was to allow each of these characters to feel just as important. It's likely that X-Men '97 will continue on this path, focusing on exactly the same team line-up that made the original series such a success in the '90s, but will it bring any of the other background characters to the forefront in the new show? Will Morph, a beloved fan-favorite created especially for the show, return once again?
