相手に警告する事で無駄な戦いを避ける意味もあるでしょう。
いくら強いといっても、怪我はしたくないですから。

逆にネコは糞を砂をかけて隠しますが、これは肉食動物側の知恵で、自分の居場所を隠す意味があると言われています。
ここに肉食獣がいるぞ、と分かってしまうと、獲物が逃げてしまいますからね。
